About the game
Memoarrr! sends 2-4 players on a memory-driven pirate escape, revealing island locations connected by shared animals or landscapes before the lava closes in. On each turn, players reveal a location connected to the last one shown, and whoever can't find a connection drops out of the round, letting the last pirate standing claim a treasure. Because the cards never move, players build up more knowledge each round, making later rounds a satisfying test of memory and deduction. Advanced special actions on each animal add extra bite for experienced players.
Hobbli's Notes
Memoarrr! elevates a simple memory-matching format with clever connection logic that rewards paying attention across the whole game, not just remembering card positions. It's light enough for family play but has enough of an advanced mode to keep older kids and adults engaged too. The luck of early reveals can occasionally overshadow memory skill, but the fast 20-minute runtime means that rarely matters much.
What we like
- Clever connection mechanic adds more depth than a typical memory game.
- Quick 20-minute playtime suits repeated plays in one sitting.
- Advanced special actions give older players extra strategic options.
- Charming pirate theme appeals to younger players.
- Easy to teach, making it a solid family filler.
Keep in mind
- Early-game reveals can be luck-dependent before memory kicks in.
- Limited strategic depth for gamers seeking heavier challenges.
- Player elimination within rounds can leave some players idle briefly.
Who it's for
Families and casual groups ages 8 and up who enjoy quick memory and deduction games, for 2-4 players.
