About the game

In Tournament at Camelot, you play a legendary Arthurian knight battling rivals with weapon cards ranging from arrows and swords to sorcery and alchemy. Injure your opponents to gain the upper hand in the tournament, but watch out for Godsend cards and special companions that let badly wounded characters mount a stunning comeback. This trick-taking, take-that card game continues until one opponent is injured to the point of "death," at which point the healthiest character claims victory. With variable player powers for each Arthurian character, every game brings a different combat dynamic.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team finds Tournament at Camelot a fun, combative trick-taking game that leans hard into "take that" chaos rather than quiet strategy. Comeback mechanics via Godsend cards keep eliminated-feeling players in contention right up to the end, which is a nice design touch. It's best enjoyed by groups who like a bit of friendly aggression and don't mind a swingy outcome. A solid choice when you want a livelier alternative to traditional trick-taking games.

What we like

  • Comeback mechanics keep every player in contention.
  • Variable character powers add asymmetric flavor.
  • Quick 45-minute playtime suits repeat plays.
  • Fun Arthurian theme layered over trick-taking.

Keep in mind

  • Take-that attacks can frustrate players who dislike direct conflict.
  • Luck of the draw affects outcomes significantly.
  • Limited strategic depth compared to heavier trick-taking games.

Who it's for
