About the game

Songbirds is a quick abstract card game where players act as forest spirits secretly guiding one of four colored birds to dominance. Numbered cards from 1 to 7 are placed onto a 5x5 grid, and once it's full, each row and column awards a token to whichever color holds the majority there. A hidden final card reveals which bird each player was actually favoring, adding a hidden-agenda twist to a tight area-majority puzzle. It plays quickly and includes a cooperative/solitaire mode for one or two players.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team finds this a clever, compact area-majority puzzle with a nice hidden-loyalty twist at the reveal. It's a light, quick-playing game that rewards careful card placement more than direct confrontation.

What we like

  • Quick 20-minute playtime with genuine tactical decisions.
  • Hidden final-card mechanic adds a satisfying reveal.
  • Supports solo and cooperative play alongside competitive modes.
  • Simple, language-independent cards make it easy to learn.

Keep in mind

  • Niche release with limited availability makes it hard to find.
  • Abstract presentation may feel dry for players wanting more theme.
  • Area-majority scoring can be swingy with tied lines being ignored.

Who it's for

Good for fans of light abstract card games aged 8+ looking for a quick, thinky filler for 1-4 players.
