About the game
Agricola: Family Edition streamlines Uwe Rosenberg's classic worker-placement design for new and younger players. As a farmer with a spouse and a shack, you take two actions each round to gather resources, build meadows, expand your house, and raise children to gain more workers. Across 14 rounds and six harvests, you manage food, buildings, and animals to become the most prosperous farm. Building bonuses and simplified rules keep the experience approachable without losing Agricola's core charm.
Hobbli's Notes
A wonderfully streamlined entry point into worker placement that keeps Agricola's charm intact while trimming away its trickier complexities. Veteran Agricola players may miss the deeper resource tension of the full game, but as a family introduction it works beautifully.
What we like
- Simplified rules make it ideal for families and newcomers.
- Retains the satisfying core loop of worker placement and farm-building.
- Shorter playtime than the original full Agricola.
- Includes a solo mode for practicing or playing alone.
Keep in mind
- Offers less strategic depth than the full Agricola game.
- Removed elements like stone and vegetables may disappoint series veterans.
- Still requires forward planning that can trip up very young players.
Who it's for
Families and worker-placement newcomers, ages 8 and up, best with 1-4 players.
