About the game

Set on mid-20th-century farms, Fields of Green has players draft cards over four yearly rounds to expand their fields, livestock, and facilities into a thriving agricultural engine. Each year ends with a harvest phase requiring players to water fields, feed livestock, and pay maintenance to earn valuable resources for the next round. Inspired by Among the Stars, it blends card drafting with tableau-building and resource management into a satisfying engine-building experience. Wealth converts to victory points, with the richest farmer after four years taking the win.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editors enjoy the tight drafting-and-engine-building loop in Fields of Green, and the farming theme gives it a warmer feel than many abstract drafting games. The harvest phase adds a nice risk-management layer that rewards planning ahead.

What we like

  • Satisfying engine-building drafting loop
  • Meaningful resource management during harvests
  • Relatively quick playtime for its depth
  • Approachable farming theme

Keep in mind

  • Card drafting can create imbalance between hands
  • Simultaneous phases may reduce direct interaction

Who it's for

Good for strategy gamers ages 12+ in groups of 2-4 who enjoy card drafting and engine-building games with an agricultural theme.
