About the game
Dixit: Journey brings the beloved storytelling party game to a fresh, streamlined board. One player narrates a phrase, sound, or feeling tied to a card in hand, and everyone else secretly submits a card that could also match. All submissions are shuffled and revealed, and players vote on which card belongs to the Storyteller. Scoring rewards a clue that's neither too obvious nor too obscure. The dreamlike, surreal artwork makes every round a chance for creative interpretation.
Hobbli's Notes
Dixit remains one of the best gateway party games ever made, and this Journey edition keeps everything we love while simplifying the scoreboard. It's a reliable pick when you want laughter and genuine surprise rather than competitive tension. The only catch is that its magic depends on the group being willing to get a little vulnerable and creative.
What we like
- Gorgeous, evocative artwork sparks genuinely creative clues every round.
- Extremely easy to teach to new or non-gamer players.
- Scales nicely across a wide range of group sizes.
- Encourages laughter and connection rather than cutthroat competition.
Keep in mind
- Scoring can feel arbitrary since it depends heavily on how well players read each other.
- Repeated plays with the same group can make clues predictable.
- Not much strategic depth for gamers wanting a tactical challenge.
Who it's for
Great for families and mixed groups of casual gamers ages 8 and up, ideally with 4 to 6 players who enjoy wordplay, storytelling, and a bit of whimsy.
