About the game

Amyitis casts players as rival architects racing to build the fabled Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Over the course of the game you cultivate gardens, hire craftsmen, manage irrigation, and trade with distant cities to earn prestige. Every turn presents a tight set of options, and your choices ripple outward to affect your rivals' plans. It's a mid-weight Euro dressed in a rich historical theme, with plenty of interlocking systems to master.

Hobbli's Notes

Amyitis rewards players who enjoy puzzling out efficient engines inside a historical wrapper. It flies under the radar compared to some other Euro classics, but fans of tightly optimized resource games will find a lot to chew on. The direct interaction between players keeps it from feeling too solitary despite the heavy planning.

What we like

  • Rich ancient Babylon theme woven into the mechanics.
  • Multiple viable paths to victory through gardens, trade, and temples.
  • Meaningful interaction as player actions affect opponents directly.
  • Rewarding long-term engine building for experienced gamers.

Keep in mind

  • High complexity and long playtime may deter casual players.
  • Rules and icons can feel dense for newcomers to Euro games.
  • Limited player count caps it at four.

Who it's for

Best for experienced Euro gamers age 12+ who enjoy resource management and indirect competition, in groups of 2-4.
