About the game
Jungo is a fast hand-building shedding game where 2-5 players race to be the first to empty their hand, using cards numbered 1-8 that can't be rearranged once dealt. On your turn you play a card or matching set that beats what's on the table, either by outnumbering or outranking the previous play, and you can only combine cards that sit next to each other in your fixed hand order. Overplaying an opponent lets you scoop up their cards into your own hand, and some cards carry two possible values for extra flexibility. Games run around 15 minutes, making it easy to play several short rounds in a sitting. It's a light, quick-thinking card game built for repeat play.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team likes Jungo for how much tactical tension it squeezes out of a simple shedding format: the fixed hand order forces some genuinely tough calls about when to play big or hold back. At 15 minutes a round, it's an easy game to fit in before or after a bigger game, or to play best-of-three. The flexible dual-value cards add a nice pinch of decision-making to an otherwise simple structure. As a 2025 release, it's still building a track record, but the core loop is snappy and satisfying.
What we like
- Very short 15-minute playtime suits quick sessions or multiple rounds.
- Fixed hand order adds a clever tactical wrinkle to a simple shedding game.
- Easy rules make it accessible for kids and casual players alike.
- Flexible dual-value cards add welcome decision-making depth.
- Scales comfortably across a 2-5 player range.
Keep in mind
- Luck of the initial deal can noticeably affect a player's starting position.
- Offers limited strategic depth for experienced card gamers.
- Shedding games like this can swing suddenly near the end.
- As a brand-new release, it has a limited track record so far.
