About the game

Nunatak: Temple of Ice is a three-dimensional construction game in which players jointly build a step pyramid inside a glacial ice mountain - but every builder is competing for the best score. Placing pillar stones earns cards with scoring values, and completing squares of four pillars unlocks new levels of the growing temple. Area-majority influence and set collection combine with a modular, ever-rising physical structure. It's a visually striking mid-weight game where careful placement decisions matter as much as the tactile tower-building itself.

Hobbli's Notes

The 3D building element genuinely changes how this plays compared to a flat tile-layer - watching the temple rise turn by turn adds real tension about which squares will close next. Kane Klenko's knack for tight, competitive puzzles shines through in how contested each placement becomes. It's a great pick for groups who enjoy a bit of spatial spectacle with their strategy.

What we like

  • Unique 3D-building gameplay creates a striking table presence.
  • Area-majority scoring rewards careful, competitive placement.
  • Modular structure keeps each game visually and tactically different.
  • Approachable 45-minute playtime for its depth.

Keep in mind

  • 3D components may be fiddly or unstable for some groups.
  • Limited thematic depth beyond the physical building gimmick.

Who it's for

Good for 2-4 players aged 10+ who enjoy tactile, spatially-driven strategy games with light-to-medium complexity.
