About the game

Evolution: Climate is a standalone entry in the Evolution game system that adds dynamic climate swings between scorching heat and icy cold. Players adapt their species with traits like Hard Shell, Horns, or Heavy Fur to survive scarce food, predators, and temperature extremes. With more cards drawn per round and up to four traits per species, the game supports over 200,000 ways to evolve. Every playthrough creates a different evolving ecosystem.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli enjoys how Evolution: Climate layers a genuine ecological simulation on top of an already clever card game, adding real educational value without sacrificing the fun. The added climate threat sharpens the tension nicely.

What we like

  • Strong educational ecosystem theme woven into gameplay.
  • Enormous combinatorial replayability from trait cards.
  • Scales well up to six players.
  • Satisfying take-that interaction between competing species.

Keep in mind

  • Can suffer analysis paralysis with many traits in play.
  • Take-that elements may frustrate players who dislike direct conflict.
  • Adds complexity on top of an already detailed base system.

Who it's for

Families and gamers interested in science and ecology themes, ages 10 and up, will enjoy this for two to six players.
