About the game
Greed casts players as rival crime lords drafting thugs, holdings, and action cards over ten rounds to build the most profitable criminal empire. From designer Donald X. Vaccarino, creator of Dominion, the game blends a drafting phase with simultaneous card reveals, meaning your plans and your rivals' plans collide unpredictably each round. Holdings generate scoring tokens worth real money at the end of the game, layering a set-collection engine on top of the take-that card play. It's a tight, thematic 30-minute card game about greed, timing, and cutthroat opportunism.
Hobbli's Notes
As you'd expect from Dominion's designer, the card interactions in Greed are cleverly interlocking, and the drafting-then-simultaneous-reveal structure creates real tension about what your opponents are planning. The Mafia theme and Take That elements give it more direct conflict than most drafting games. It can feel a bit fiddly with all the card types and conditions to track for a 30-minute game, so it rewards a few plays before it clicks.
