About the game
World's Fair 1893 puts players in the role of organizers competing to build influence and secure the grandest exhibits at Chicago's legendary World's Fair. Each turn, you send a supporter to one of five thematic areas, gathering the cards found there before new cards replenish the display. Those cards represent exhibit proposals, influential people, and Midway attraction tickets, and collecting the right combination earns reputation points across three scoring rounds. Leaders in each area also get their matching exhibit proposals approved, rewarding both area control and savvy set collection. Designed by J. Alex Kevern, it's a tight, quick-playing game of area majority and drafting.
Hobbli's Notes
World's Fair 1893 packs a lot of decision-making into a 45-minute box. The push-and-pull of gathering cards from a shared display versus racing to trigger the next scoring round makes every turn matter. It scales nicely and rewards planning your exhibit sets ahead of time. A great gateway into area-majority games for players ready to step up from purely family-weight titles.
